Those poor girlies from sell-out show Babooshka keep getting their posh pants pinched. The 5-strong female cast are sponsored by luxury lingerie company Coco De Mer and were given ample supplies of undies by their sponsors to feature on stage in the show, but their precious bras and knickers have been stolen.
True though it may be that one of the cast has a topless scene every day and it could be any one of them, a veritable breast lottery there are now more breasts than bras in the cast and now a pant-swapping regime has been enforced by writer and performer Kiki Kendrick - as there simply aren't enough undercrackers to go round! So if anyone finds this impish pant thief, tell them to stop the pinching, or we may all end up seeing more boosh than was intended in Babooshka.
Comedy drama Babooshka has been a sell out success at The Pleasance that tomorrow an extra performance has been added, taking place in the Hut at 4.45 pm. Multi-talented producer and cowriter of Babooshka Kiki Kendrick, who also appears in the play says that the success is not without its drawbacks. At each performance she supplies the audience with Jaffa cakes and Vodka jellies which she makes after a regular nightcap in Brooks bar ...
As the run continues the vodka jellies are getting stronger and stronger and are getting increasingly popular many of the audience are taking two and three at a time. Kiki catering nightmares continue - as the show sells out Kiki is rapidly running out of Jaffa cakes and is scouring the city for supplies. Ms Kendrick flatly denies rumours that she will be opening Kiki's Café when she returns to her home in London.
The Babooshka girls are a lot of fun the play is about women's self image, the rise of the celeb cult and the way women are constantly judged on their looks. The audience are give vodka jellies and jaffa cakes on arrival. Producer, co-writer and actress Kiki Kendrick is unstoppable flyering by day then performing and then socialising and in the wee small hours she goes back home to make about 50 vodka jellies. The later she makes them the stronger they get, so by the end of the run who knows what state the audience will be in ...
The play also features ladies in their underwear (sponsored by Coco de Mer) and one of them goes topless but it's like The Mousetrap I can't give away which one it is.
